I intend to retire from the Navy.

Scott Sullivan

After high school I went on to community college. I later transferred to a university and got a full-time job. Even though the money was good, I didn’t seem to save any. Then I dropped out of school and floundered a while.

My dad was pushing the Navy on me, but I thought it was for people with troubles. I rejected the idea until I thought about it on my own.

It’s worked out great. I just received a promotion and got a signing bonus. I cross-rated (switched careers) into Cryptology after being an Aviation Mechanic. That’s one of the advantages of the Navy — if you’re doing something and you’d rather be doing something else, you can switch. I work in a career I love.

I will be going back to school soon, which the Navy will help pay for, to get a business management or business administration degree. I will also be applying for the LDO/CWO (Limited-Duty Officer/Chief Warrant Officer) program to become an Officer.

After all that I have done, there is no way I could ever go back home to my boring old lifestyle. I intend to retire from the Navy.
