Skills and Training

In addition to traditional power-generating systems, the Navy is the leader in the development and operation of shipboard nuclear power plants. If you are interested in a challenging and comprehensive technical education in a highly specialized field, the energy and power field could be for you. Intensive classroom training in mathematics, physics, and basic engineering, followed by training at a nuclear prototype plant, is your most likely training path.

Your training may also prepare you for the following careers:

Nuclear Power Plant Operator
Mechanic
