A multifaceted ministry Chaplain Nelson

The role of a Navy Chaplain is unique in that you get to blend your spiritual gifts. You’ll find yourself stretched in all areas, challenged in ways you never imagined.

Every possible aspect of ministry is reflected in the duties of a Navy Chaplain. In my civilian ministry, I encountered many restraints – budgets, fund-raising, administrative duties. But as a Navy Chaplain, I have much more time to devote to the people in my care. And more freedom to follow where God chooses to guide me.

Robert Nelson, Lieutenant, Chaplain Corps, USN

Chaplain Nelson originally enlisted in the Army, then later in the Marine Corps. He entered Navy Chaplaincy in 2006 and has served two tours with the Marines. Chaplain Nelson is presently stationed in Hawaii.

He has been married for 18 years and has two children.
